"Actionable, widely applicable grant writing tips, not just 'I got this grant, this is how I did it' "

I tend to not give too much credit to talks that say "I got this grant, this is how I did it", because they are often not generalizable.

On the contrary, David brought a broad perspective by analyzing many applications, both successful and failed, so he could actually prove what works and what doesn't.

I enjoyed that he distilled this into practical advice that perfectly fit the situations of many of us regularly submitting grants, big or small. I particularly liked the tips on how to logically construct a good story for the grant.

I would definitely recommend this talk. Thanks to the actionable and proven tips, this talk can already make a difference in how people write their grants.

"Effective and inspiring workshop & flash talk"

David Karlin gave a workshop and a flash talk at our Young Researchers’ Conference. His advice on writing European or national proposals was highly relevant and practical, as it is based on reviewers' expectations. Participants learned to structure their projects clearly and effectively, avoiding unnecessary details. His methods, which are directly applicable, really make a difference.

Thank you so much for these effective and inspiring workshops! I highly recommend them.

"A very good seminar by an excellent expert"

I attended a short workshop by David at the SCT congress. I recommend it as it's led by an excellent expert. In very little time, he clearly presented the main issues that determine whether a project has a chance of being funded, such as a vague title or project goals. He also provided solutions to improve them and clarify the project structure.
